JAKARTA - Proton officially launched a twin of Geely Geome Xingyuan, namely eMas 5 in Malaysia, which is present in two variants starting from Prime which is priced at 56,800 ringgit or IDR 225 million, while Premium hits 69,800 ringgit or IDR 277 million.

Quoting from the Paultan page, Friday, October 31, the initial launch of eMas 5 will be fully aimed at the Premium variant, because the new Prime variant will be available afterward. With this price, eMas 5 is the cheapest EV currently sold in Malaysia.

In specifications, eMas 5 has a length of 4,135 mm, a width of 1,805 mm, and a height of 1,580 mm, with a wheelbase distance of 2,650 mm and a ground clearance of 160 mm. In terms of weight, eMas 5 weighs 1,230 kg for Prime and 1,305 kg for Premium. This vehicle uses a 15-inch steel rim with a 205/65R15 tires for Prime, and 16-inch rims with 205/60R16 tires for Premium.

Starting with Prime, the basic variant carries a single back axis motor powered by 79 PS/130 Nm, powered by a 30.12 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery made by CATL, which is claimed to offer a range of 225 km on WLTP testing standards.

Up to the Premium variant produces a more powered motor with 116 PS and 150 Nm torque, as well as a larger 40.16 kWh LFP battery for a range of up to 325 km (WLTP). Acceleration of 0-50 km/hour is claimed in 3.9 seconds (Premium) and 4.4 seconds (Prime).

Proton eMas 5 requires dc to 71 kW of charging in the Premium variant, while Prime requires 53 kW of DC, both variants take 21 minutes to charge the battery from 30-80 percent. Meanwhile, AC charging up to 6.6 kW is supported when using a wallbox charger, which takes 4.3 hours to charge from 10-100 percent to Prime, and 5.9 hours for Premium.

On the other hand, eMas 5 also provides vehicle-to-load (V2L) functions to charge external devices.

Standard equipment for eMas 5 (started with Prime) includes manual haloous headlights, 15-inch steel wheels and hub caps, manual rear doors, seat and air conditioning manual, rear air ventilation,uretan steering wheel, and synthetic leather seat coating. Premium variants specifically get LED exterior lights with smart far-light control, contrasting black roofs, powered backdoors, D-pad inspired wheels, six speakers, 360-degree cameras, and powered backdoors.

Behind his skin, the 5 RWD eMas gets a configuration of the front suspension of the MacPherson strut and a multi-link back suspension, which is similar to the larger eMas 7. Later, the Proton eMas 5 will initially be fully imported (CBU) before being assembled locally (CKD) at the Tanjung Malim Proton factory.
