This Chinese Car Successfully "Win" In Asia's Longest River

JAKARTA Jetour Zongheng G700 made a new history, where it managed to become the first SUV to cross the Yangtze River in China. This action took place on October 16, the car traveled about 1.5 kilometers from the Heisha Zhou Ferry Terminal to Nanlong Terminal in Anhui Province.

The 1,480-meter river journey was taken within 22 minutes. Zongheng G700 drove at an average speed of about 7 kilometers per hour above the surface of the water, against the river currents which reached 5 to 10 kilometers per hour.

The river is China's longest and third-longest in the world after the Nile in Africa and the Amazon River in South America.

Reporting from Carnewschina, Thursday, October 16, this achievement is clear evidence of Chery's technical capabilities and innovation in its flagship hybrid SUV. Executive Vice President Chery Auto explained that the success of this crossing was due to the smooth implementation of integrated land and water vehicle technology.

"Zongheng G700 uses a holeless body, active air circulation system, and a high voltage 800V driver made of silicon carbide which makes it stable and safe in extreme conditions," he said.

This car is also equipped with a six-axis gyroscope that maintains a body balance while on the water. This luxury SUV will be officially launched on October 19, 2025, and is available in four variants.

Chery opened pre-sale prices in the range of 349,900 to 429,900 yuan, or around Rp. 814 million to Rp. 1 billion. With this price, Zongheng G700 not only promises extraordinary capabilities on land, but also strong performance in water.

From the kitchen side, Jetour Zongheng G700 is equipped with a hybrid 2.0TD engine with a power of 155 kW and a torque of 340 Nm. Its full-scale hybrid system is capable of producing a total output of up to 560 kW (751 horsepower) and a 795 Nm peak torque, with a maximum distance of 1,400 kilometers in one full charge.

This success strengthens Chery's position as a Chinese car manufacturer that continues to innovate in the vehicle technology sector. Through Jetour Zongheng G700, Chery proved that the SUV's future is no longer limited on land, but can cross natural boundaries with confidence.
