Invitation Leaked, Ronaldo and Georgina Reportedly to Marry Soon

JAKARTA - The news of Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez's marriage is back in the limelight. The trigger, the invitation which is called the couple's wedding invitation leaked to the Portuguese program, V+Fama.

The Mirror, quoted on Sunday, August 2, reported that the invitation was said to contain the names of Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez as well as a request for their wedding celebration. The news sparked speculation that the two would get married this weekend.

However, the news has not been confirmed. A family statement later denied Ronaldo and Georgina would marry this weekend.

Speculation continued to swirl as just hours earlier Georgina had posted a photo of herself and Ronaldo wearing matching rings.

The story of Ronaldo and Georgina has long attracted public attention. Their relationship began about 10 years ago at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Georgina worked as a sales assistant.

At the time, Ronaldo was said to be single after being in the spotlight several times for his relationships with a number of famous names, including model Irina Shayk and Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson.

In the Netflix documentary Soy Georgina, Georgina tells the story of her first meeting with Ronaldo. She was supposed to go home at 17.00. However, a colleague asked her to stay 30 minutes longer to help a VIP client.

When Georgina finally came out of the store, Ronaldo came with his son and some friends.

Georgina said the interest was felt immediately. He admitted that he felt "butterflies" in his stomach and was too embarrassed to look into the eyes of the football star.

Ronaldo then approached Georgina in a way that was hard to forget. Georgina, who used to come to work by bus, was then picked up by Ronaldo using a Bugatti worth 1.5 million pounds sterling.

After a year of secretly dating, Ronaldo and Georgina appeared together in public in January 2017. They were present at The Best FIFA Football Awards.

In June of the same year, the couple welcomed twins Mateo and Eva through a surrogate mother. Five months later, Georgina gave birth to their daughter, Alana Martina.

In 2022, Ronaldo and Georgina welcomed twins again. However, their baby boy died during childbirth. Her sister, Bella Esmeralda, survived.

Georgina also became the mother of Ronaldo's eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.

After years together, the question of marriage continues to follow this couple. In an interview with Marca last year, Ronaldo said marriage would definitely happen, but he was waiting for the right time.

"It will happen. 1,000 percent," Ronaldo said.

"But I'm waiting for the perfect moment, which I call the click," he said.

Speculation about the engagement became more crowded after Georgina uploaded a photo of her left hand with a large oval diamond ring. She wrote, "Yes, I'm ready. In this life and in all my lives."

The Mirror said, reports from a number of Portuguese newspapers then linked Ronaldo and Georgina with a wedding plan on Saturday. However, the invitations that circulated raised questions.

Some versions of the invitation say the ceremony starts at 14.00. Another version says the event starts at 17.00. The difference makes some people doubt the authenticity of the invitation.

The family has denied the wedding this weekend. However, the upload of a matching ring from Georgina has made the news a subject of speculation.
