JAKARTA - SAIC Motor is reaping success through the latest generation MG4 model which has started pre-sales in a country from China. The proof is that the model has been ordered by more than 11,000 units in just 24 hours.

According to a report from Carnewschina quoted on Friday, August 8, the latest generation of the MG4 EV has amassed 11,067 pre-orders within 24 hours of its limited launch. This latest electric hatchback is offered in four variants, with the cheapest price starting from 73,800 yuan or around Rp168 million.

The MG4 EV builds on a pure E3 SAIC electric architecture platform and a variant that uses semi solid state batteries is expected to be officially launched in September.

This latest generation certainly has its own charm, starting from a design that has changed completely. From the exterior side of this latest MG4 EV retains its hatchback shape. The design is inspired by the cyberster front fascia, including the flaring MG logo.

From the side, this vehicle displays dynamic body lines, black windows frames, and distinctive petals-shaped rims, which further strengthen its sporty profile. The MG4 EV has a length of 4,395 mm, a width of 1,842 mm, and a height of 1,551 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.

On the back, the MG4 EV adopts an arrow-shaped backlight, reflecting the Cyberster design and inspired by the Union Jack flag. This new model will be available in six different exterior colors.

Entering the interior, the infotainment system is the result of a collaboration between SAIC and Oppo, which offers smartphone integration that allows users to control mobile content directly from the car screen. Furthermore, the MG4 EV is equipped with Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery integration technology, which reduces the altitude of the floor and maximizes interior space.

The latest MG4 EV will use a front-wheel drive system, with an electric motor that produces a maximum power of 120 kW. For charging, the battery can be recharged from 30 to 80 percent in 20 minutes in optimal conditions. The chassis uses MacPherson's independent suspension at the front and a non-independent torque beam suspension at the back.

In performance, this car is equipped with a permanent magnetic synchronous motor that produces 120 kW of power and a 250 Nm torque, with a top speed of 160 km/h. Two choices of lithium iron phosphate batteries offer a range of 437 km of CLTC (42.8 kWh) and 530 km (53.9 kWh). Charging from 30 to 80 percent takes about 20 minutes, while vehicles maintain an energy consumption rate of 10.4 kWh per 100 km.
