JAKARTA – Honda is making another splash in the electric vehicle market by announcing the production version of the Honda N-One e today. A prototype of this adorable little car previously caught the eye at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this month, and now the production version is ready to hit the streets in Japan, offering a compact and environmentally friendly urban transportation solution.

Reported by Carscoops, Monday, July 28, as an electric kei microcar, the N-One e: appears with a boxy design, a high roof, and a friendly robot-like face, combining cute and unique impressions at the same time. Unlike the Goodwood model which has fender flares, the Japanese version is designed without these features to ensure its compliance with strict kei car regulations, which include external dimensions to power output.

While Honda hasn't revealed many detailed technical specifications, it's safe to assume the N-One e: measures less than 3,400 mm (11,800 in) in length and produces no more than 63 hp (47 kW) from its single electric motor. Its electric hardware specifications are likely shared with the N-Van e: revealed last year, which claimed a range of 245 km (150 mi) on a single charge, and the N-One e: is expected to have a slightly longer range.

Speaking of charging, the N-Van e: is capable of 50 kW DC charging, allowing its small battery to be fully charged in about 30 minutes. The N-One e:'s interior is simple yet functional, with plenty of physical buttons and a rotary volume dial on the media display, as well as a familiar transmission selector. The one-pedal mode feature is also easily activated with just a button.

One of the key features that makes the N-One e: special is its V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) function. This feature allows owners to use the car to supply electricity to their homes during power outages, or to charge other devices such as electric bicycles or laptops, adding practical utility to their daily lives. A special adapter for this V2L function can be purchased from the Honda accessories catalog.

Sales of the Honda N-One e: in Japan will begin this September, and that same month, Honda is also expected to introduce this small EV in Europe at the IAA Munich. Unfortunately, there are currently no plans to bring this car to the United States.
