Aito M8 Breakthrough In Luxury Vehicle Segment, 21,000 Laku Units In Six Hours

JAKARTA - The collaborative brand between Seres and Huawei, Aito has officially launched its newest SUV called M8. This car is offered in a range-extender (EREV) version which is known to have a longer reach and is environmentally friendly.

For the Chinese market, the car is pegged at an initial price of 368,000 yuan or equivalent to Rp. 828.1 million with an initial booking of 5,000 yuan (equivalent to Rp. 11.2 million). This one car is positioned under the M9 which is the flagship SUV of this brand.

So even though targeting the luxury vehicle market, it does not make M8 empty of enthusiasts. Launching from CarNewsChina, Monday, March 10, this medium-sized SUV has been ordered as many as 21,000 orders in the first six hours after pre-sales opened to the Chinese market.

Aito has announced pre-sales for the M8 starting March 6 in China. This is the fourth product introduced by the brand after the M5, M7, and M9.

The car will go on sale in China starting April. The Aito M8 will be available for purchase at Huawei's HIMA stores and Aito's exhibition spaces across the bamboo curtain country.

The Aito M8 will play in the mid-size SUV segment with a length of 5,190 mm, a width of 1,999 mm, a height of 1,795 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,105 mm. This car adopts a minimalist design language with a closed front and a flat roof line.

The SUV is designed for the premium market with 21-inch multi-spoke rims, flat door handles, and headlights combined with LED strips. Another interesting thing, Aito M8 has a LiDAR feature installed on the roof and rear windows.

Moving to the interior, Aito M8 offers two layout configurations, namely 2+2+2 and 2+3. Focusing on the convenience of its users, the SUV is equipped with an augmented reality head-up display developed by Huawei and three large screens.

Just like other luxury cars, Aito M8 has a captain seat in the second row on the 6-SEAter type which increases high-end comfort.

This latest SUV is powered by a 4WD double motor drive with a peak power of 526 hp. It is combined with a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine that acts as additional power for electric drive.

It is offered two power cores from Aito M8, namely an LFP battery with a capacity of 36 kWh or NMC 52 kWh which is able to provide 310 km of electrical coverage in CLTC conditions. Thus, the car can provide a total distance of 1,526 km.
