Toyota is rumored to be presenting the latest generation of one of its SUVs, namely Harrier. Currently, manufacturers have sold their fourth generation since 2020 in several markets, including Japan.

The latest generation from Harrier is rumored to be listed for the first time in 2026 and will have a more stylish look than before.

Japanese media Best Car reported on Thursday, March 6, the development of the fifth generation of Harrier is underway. This car will be equipped with the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) or Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) system which is in line with the company's vision of implementing multi-path strategies for its environmentally friendly vehicles.

The HEV and PHEV systems will be combined with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder turbo engine or different from the previous generation, which relies on 2.0 liters and 2.5 liters of larger engines.

Taking advantage of the characteristics of the next generation of engines that are more compact than before, this car is expected to have better fuel efficiency than those sold today.

Although the engine dimension is smaller, Toyota will not rule out its performance. Next-generation Harrier will rely on an E-Four four-wheel drive system by relying on an electric motor at the back.

Not only relying on HEV and PHEV drivers, it is possible that the latest Toyota Harrier will be available in the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) variant for the first time. Thus, this model will be available in pure electricity along with the latest generation of RAV4 in the future.

Generation Toyota Harrier is currently built on the TNGA-K platform or platforms used for medium-sized SUVs in segment D, segment E, and full-size, such as Lexus NX, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Crown, to Lexus RX.

At home, this car is available in the choice of pure gasoline, HEV, and PHEV. For the choice of gasoline, the SUV is available in a clean 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine with a power of up to 169 hp.

Meanwhile, the HEV type offers a larger engine of 2.5 liters of fresh 4-cylinder. Combined with an electric motor placed in front and rear, the car has a total power of 219 cellphones.

The PHEV variant also has a similar engine like HEV, but with a 180-hp electric motor plus an extra 54-hp drive, it produces a total power of 302 hp.
