BYD Adds Electric Car Portfolio In Malaysia With Sealion 7 SUV

JAKARTA - BYD added to its car model in Malaysia by launching the Sealion 7, which was introduced in the country.

Quoting from the Paultan page, Friday, November 15, the launch of Sealion 7 is also the fifth pure electric car in Malaysia and its status is still imported intact.

The electric car that will fill the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment is available in two variants for the Malaysian market, namely Premium which is priced at 183,800 ringgit or around Rp. 649 million, while the highest variant or Performance is at 199,800 ringgit (Rp705 million).

In dimensions, this one SUV has a length of 4,830 mm, a width of 1,925 mm, a height of 1,620 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,930 mm. In design, it is similar to BYD Song L, which has a cooperative style with a long body and a low roof line.

Designed by former Audi designer Wolfgang Egger, Sealion 7 takes a lot of style from Seal, one of Egger's creations, especially C-shaped headlights, large air take, full wide back light, and large back diffusers. External elements include LED headlights, LED running daytime lights, and LED rear combination lights.

Technical specifications for the Sealion 7 offered in Malaysia follow the specifications offered in Hong Kong, the vehicle's first major export market, with two engine options and driving configurations. Premium is equipped with a single rear bike that generates 308 hp and 380 Nm torque, which is good enough to go from zero to 100 km/hour in 6.7 seconds.

Meanwhile, Performance uses all-wheel drive, with front motors powered by 215 hp and and 310 Nm working with the same rear bike as the Premium to produce a total system output of 523 hp and 690 Nm, which allows it to reach the sprint of this century about 2.2 seconds faster, which is 4.5 seconds.

In the Sealion 7 Premium, this provides a distance of 567 km on the NEDC cycle, while the performance improvement in AWD results in a slight reduction in the distance to 542 km. The presence of 82.56 kWh of batteries on both cars also answers questions about the foundation and maximum DC charging rate.
