JAKARTA - PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) together with seven state-owned enterprises (BUMN) held a Blue Impact program at Minang Rua Beach, Kelawi Village, South Lampung Regency.
Through the social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) program, Brantas Abipraya invites various parties to jointly maintain the sustainability of the marine ecosystem while empowering coastal communities.
The Blue Impact program integrates a number of activities, ranging from coral reef conservation, financial literacy education, to free health check-up services. This initiative is expected to provide long-term benefits for the environment while improving the welfare of people in coastal areas.
Corporate Secretary of PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), Dian Sovana said the collaboration was a form of commitment by SOEs in bringing sustainable positive impacts for the environment and coastal communities.
"Through this collaboration, we want to bring about a real impact on the environment while improving the quality of life of the community. The sea has a vital role as a source of life, a support for food security, and an economic driver for coastal communities so that its sustainability must be maintained together," said Dian in an official statement, Thursday, June 18.
According to Dian, coral reefs have a strategic function as a habitat for various marine biota, natural protection of the coast from abrasion and waves, and buffering the balance of coastal ecosystems. Therefore, conservation efforts must be carried out sustainably by involving various stakeholders, including local communities.
In addition to planting and conserving coral reefs, program participants also received financial literacy education which is expected to improve people's ability to manage family finances while encouraging economic independence in coastal areas.
Dian added that cross-sector synergy is an important factor in maintaining the sustainability of the marine ecosystem while creating wider social and economic impacts.
"Conservation success cannot be done alone. Collaboration between companies, governments, communities, and communities is the key to ensuring that the marine ecosystem is maintained and the benefits can be felt by future generations," he said.
Dian emphasized that coastal communities have an important role as the front line in maintaining the sustainability of the marine ecosystem. According to him, a healthy underwater ecosystem not only maintains environmental sustainability, but also strengthens the attraction of Minang Rua tourism and opens opportunities for sustainable improvement of community welfare.
On this occasion, representatives of SOEs also expressed their appreciation to the South Lampung Regency Government, the Tourism and Culture Office, the sub-district, the organizing committee, and the Kelawi Village community for supporting the implementation of the Blue Impact program.
Meanwhile, the Head of the South Lampung Regency Tourism and Culture Office, I Nyoman Setiawan, assessed that the program was in line with the efforts of the local government in maintaining the sustainability of the coastal area while strengthening the development of sustainable tourism.
"This activity carries two important missions that are interrelated, namely coral reef rehabilitation and environmental education. Efforts to restore the underwater ecosystem must be accompanied by increasing public awareness so that environmental preservation can run sustainably," he said.
He said that this activity also supports the Helau Village (Green, Good, Sustainable, Safe, and Excellent) program which is being developed by the South Lampung Regency Government. With the status of Minang Rua as one of the best national tourist villages, the area is considered to have great potential as a conservation development center as well as environment-based tourism.
