Honda CR-V Hybrid In The US Affected By Recall, What About The Indonesian Unit?

JAKARTA - Not long ago, Honda announced a recall involving CR-V Hybrid in the United States (US) market. It is reported that this problem arose because of battery problems.

Quoted from Carscoops, Saturday, October 19, there is a potential fire risk in hybrid CR-V lithium-ion battery packaging. This potential was discovered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to the Japanese manufacturer, the problem stems from various factors during the assembly process. Then, several negative terminals in the battery packaging have been produced with an insufficient thickness of the remaining copper layer.

Thus, this results in a cracked copper layer that can expose aluminum below. When aluminum encounters battery electrolytes, it will endanger battery cell connections so that they can cause the battery to be damaged and increase the risk of injury.

One of the markets that provides CR-V Hybrid is Indonesia. Then, does the SUV unit in the country also have the potential to be affected by this problem?

Responding to this, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) Yusak Billy, said that his party had not received any news regarding this from the central side.

"It has not been confirmed whether it is affected or not. But if we get the news, we will let you know," said Billy when met at CIBIS Park, TB Simatupang, Jakarta, Saturday, October 19.

Billy also added that units in Indonesia are likely not affected because they are assembled from Thailand. Meanwhile, the affected Hybrid CR-V is assembled from the land of Uncle Sam.

"For Indonesia, we have not received news until now because the production unit also comes from Thailand," added Billy.

Meskipun demikian, ia juga menjelaskan pihaknya selalu berkomunikasi dengan pihak pusat untuk membahas soal ini.

"We always ask in detail because this is related to safety, but until now there has been no information from there," concluded Billy.
