BYD M6 Launches In Malaysia, The Price Is More Expensive Than In Indonesia

JAKARTA - After officially launching its premiere in Indonesia or 'World Premiere' at the GIIAS 2024 exhibition last July, BYD M6 finally officially landed in Malaysia.

Quoting from the Paultan page, the electricity MPV is the fourth model offered in Malaysia, and the models fully imported from China are presented in two variants.

The BYD M6 variant is priced at 109,800 ringgit or around Rp397 million, and the Extended variant sells for 123,800 ringgit (Rp447 million). When compared to Indonesia, the price is more expensive, in Indonesia the lowest variant is at Rp379 million.

However, the Malaysian market is different from Thailand and Indonesia, which will only get one seating configuration for this model, which is the one with seven seats. For the Indonesian market itself, there is a six-seater configuration which is priced at IDR 429 million or the highest variant.

In specifications, the BYD M6 dimension has a length of 4,710 mm, a width of 1,810 mm, and a height of 1,690 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. From the design side, the M6 has a much sharper front, with a full-width silver bar (containing a BYD script) that connects the revised multiprojector LED front light. This light is on a wing-shaped bumper insertion that is neatly connected to a sleek aerial intake and chromic accents.

Regarding battery capacity, output power, and performance, Standard is equipped with a Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 55.4 kWh that drives the electric motor mounted on the front, which produces 163 PS (161 hp or 120 kW) power and 310 Nm torque. This car offers a distance of 420 km in NEDC count. Extended has a larger 71.8 kWh battery, which provides a journey of up to 530 km (NEDC), and the motor has a higher output power, resulting in 204 PS.

For charging, the M6 Standard can receive DC fast charging of up to 89 kW, while Extended can receive up to 115 kW, the latter takes 40 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent. Meanwhile, AC charging is limited to 7 kW in both variants.
