JAKARTA - Car manufacturers from China, BYD, continue to innovate in the Indonesian electric car market. In fact, there are plans to launch another new model or add to the lineup of existing models.

Indeed, currently BYD already has a total of four models sold in Indonesia, namely BYD Dolphin, Atto 3, Seal, and most recently there is an M6 electricity MPV which officially launched at GIIAS 2024 last July.

Head of PR and Government Relations of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Luther Panjaitan, revealed that BYD is different from other brands that do present lineups outside electric cars.

"Other brands have models other than EVs that are supporting. BYD is purely selling electric cars. Therefore, we do not want to come here (four models), later there will be other models," he said when met in the Jakarta area, Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Although he confirmed that he would bring the latest model, he did not elaborate in more detail. However, the man who is familiarly called Luther said that the lineup that will be present will later fill the vacancies of the existing segment.

"We still have space in the entry level and premium segments, maybe we can take advantage of it in that segment," he said.

As is known, BYD had brought several new models in Indonesia, such as Denza D9 to Yangwang U8. One of the models referring to being brought to Indonesia, namely Denza, was because he was also present in Hong Kong.

"If it (Denza) is already present in Hong Kong, which means it is the right steering wheel. If you want to be brought to Indonesia, it's an easy problem," he explained.

He also revealed that many were interested in the Denza model that had been brought to Indonesia. However, BYD does need to see how big the market is on the model.

"We see that the enthusiasm is quite high. However, we still see what the market looks like and supplying. We don't want to disappoint consumers," he said.
