JAKARTA Ford officially launched the Ranger Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) at the prestigious IAA Transportation 2024 event in Hannover, Germany. The presence of this model confirms the commitment of the manufacturer from the United States (US) in expanding the ranks of their electrification vehicles.

Despite adopting electric propulsion technology, Ranger PHEV retains its main characteristics: tough towing capabilities and reliable offroad performance. Ford also provided a luxurious touch by presenting Stormtrak's exclusive trim on this variant.

According to a Carscoops report, Wednesday, September 18, the outer look of the PHEV Ranger is still similar to the gas engine version. However, the main difference can be seen in the charging port near the fuel cap, right on the back.

The Stormtrak Edition looks different from a more classy and exclusive design. Equipped with a new 18-inch rim, fresher honeycomb grip, as well as a distinctive sticker and 'PHEV' badge that adds to the futuristic impression. Stormtrak's Chill Gray color is a standard choice, but customers can also choose Agate Black as another color option. In addition, the LED Matrix headlights and the Flexible Rack system on the back also complement this package.

On the interior, Ford pampers users with high-quality materials, 10-speaker B&O audio system, and a 12-inch infotainment touch screen equipped with a 360-degree camera.

The PHEV Ranger driving heart is a 2.3 liter turbocharged EcoBoost gasoline engine, combined with a 101 dk electric motor, producing a combined power of up to 275 dk and a maximum torque of 690 Nm, making it more powerful than the gasoline and diesel versions.

The 11.8 kWh capacity battery allows this car to go up to 45 km in pure EV mode. Ford claims, the battery can be fully charged in less than four hours. In addition, this car is also equipped with a regenerative braking system for better energy efficiency.

One of the other flagship features is Pro Power Onboard, which allows Ranger PHEV to be used as an electrical resource for electronic devices, both with a standard power of 2.3 kW and a 6.9 kW option.

Machines are channeled via 10-acceleration automatic transmission with an e-4WD four-wheel drive system supported by double-distance transfer boxes and rear differential keys.

The PHEV Ford Ranger will be produced at the Silverton plant, South Africa, and will begin shipping to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand in the spring of 2025. Price information will be announced near its official launch.
