Renault Ready To Launch Electric Hatchback In Australia, What's Interesting About 5 E-Techs?

JAKARTA Renault's electric hatchback, Renault 5 E-Tech, is approaching its official Australian launch. This news was confirmed by Australia's Chief Executive Renault, Glen Sealey, who expressed market enthusiasm for the presence of this electric car.

In an interview with Drive, quoted Monday, September 9, Sealey expressed his desire to bring this electric hatchback to the Australian market.

"This is the car I want to have," he said excitedly.

Not surprisingly, Renault 5 E-Tech has received a warm welcome since its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, with a demand figure of 50,000 units.

Renault 5 E-Tech is projected to go on sale in Europe this year, and Australia will be the next market to be set up. This means that the production of the right steering model will soon be explored by the company.

However, Sealey has also not turned a blind eye to some of the challenges that must be faced, especially regarding the Australian Design Rules (ADR).

"There are several technical problems that we need to address, such as bench adjustments and airbag features," he explained.

Although it does not project Renault 5 E-Tech as Australia's best-selling car, Sealey believes the presence of this car will have a positive impact on Renault's brand image in the local market.

"Will this have a good impact on the company? Of course," he said optimistically.

For automotive lovers, the price of this car is quite interesting. Renault 5 E-Tech is marketed starting at 25,000 euros or around IDR 427 million. Built in North France, this compact electric car carries an iconic retro design, becoming one of its own attractions for fans of unique and environmentally friendly vehicles.

In terms of performance, Renault 5 E-Tech will be present in three choices of electric motor configurations: 70 kW, 90 kW, and 110 kW. The maximum battery capacity reaches 52 kWh, which is capable of providing a distance of up to 400 km according to WLTP standards. In addition, there is also a smaller battery option, 40 kWh, with a range of about 300 km.

With all the advantages and innovations presented, Renault 5 E-Tech appears ready to captivate Australia's market and prove itself to be one of the most exciting electric cars in its class.
