Mercedes-Benz G-Class Electricity Is Now Sold In UK For IDR 3 Billion

JAKARTA - A premium automotive brand from Germany, Mercedes-Benz announced the price for the electric version of the G-Class model for the British market after its global introduction a few months ago.

Reported by Autocar, Thursday, August 29, this sturdy car began to be sold in King Charles' country starting from 180,860 pounds (Rp3,675 billion).

This is certainly much more expensive when compared to G-Class which is still powered by gasoline engines. The initial G450 diesel variant is pegged at 136,690 pounds (IDR 2,777 billion) and G500 gasoline worth 146,095 pounds (IDR 2,968 billion). However, this is still cheaper than AMG G53 for 184,595 pounds (IDR 3,751 billion).

According to Mercedes-Benz, this car can outperform its conventional engine version in its ability to cross offroad.

In addition to focusing on off-road capabilities, manufacturers are also developing this car focusing on new battery technology which is expected to increase energy density by 20 to 40 percent, compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. This advancement could significantly expand the range of vehicles, a crucial aspect for fans of electric off-roaders.

G-Class is known for its toughness, and the potential for electric variants to match or even surpass traditional models in off-road capabilities is a significant appeal.

The electric version of the G-Class model or known as the G580 is equipped with EQ Technology which has a quad-motor driving system that produces a total power of 577 dk and a powerful torque of 1,164 Nm.

The car is also given a large capacity 116 kWh battery capable of providing a range of up to 292 miles or 469 km according to WLTP calculations and can charge with a DC fast-charging 200 kW device.

The manufacturer nicknamed 'Silver Arrow' only provides it in one trim in England, namely Edition One which weighs up to 3,085 kg.
