JAKARTA - Deepal, an automotive brand from China, is ready to shake up Australia's market by launching its newest model, S07, after getting the green light from local authorities.

According to a CarExpert report, Tuesday, August 20, government documents show that the electric SUV has been approved for sale. The design is similar to the prototype being tested on Sydney street.

Produced by Changan Automobile and co-developed Huawei and CATL, Deepal S07 comes as a pure EV. With a length of 4,750 mm, a width of 1,930 mm, a height of 1,625 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, the dimensions almost match the Tesla Model Y, but are more compact.

The model is equipped with 20-inch rims, with various advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, clock assist, and blind spot monitoring. The interior is luxurious, with head-up augmented reality display, 15.6-inch touch screen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay, 14-peaker audio system, wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, and over-the-air update.

In China, Deepal S07 is powered by a back electric motor with a power of 99 kW and a torque of 320 Nm. However, in Australia, this force will be increased to 160 kW, powered by a 79.97 kWh battery which provides a longer range. Meanwhile in China, a 66.8 kWh battery is capable of traveling a distance of up to 500 km in the CLTC cycle.

Not only Australia, Deepal is also planning an expansion to the UK with the G318 model, which is designed for off-road with a tadder-frame chassis and is present in the EV variant and Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV).
