Kim Jong Un Arrested Again Using A Luxury Mercy, This Time The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC Is The Latest

JAKARTA - The photo of North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un published by North Korea's Official News Agency, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Saturday, August 10, has drawn controversy in South Korea.

The photo is when Kim Jong-un was on a special train and waved his hand while visiting the location of the flood that hit the Uiju Regency area in northwestern Phyongan Utara. Well, the controversy is the Mercedes-Maybach car on Kim's left which appears to be the front.

Yonhap News Agency reported on August 13, South Korea's largest news agency said Kim Jong-un appeared to be using the latest model of the latest Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC SUV.

This action is said to have violated UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions that prohibit supplies, sales, and transfers of luxury goods, including cars, to North Korea.

Interestingly, the SUV, which appeared to be launched only last April in South Korea at a price starting from 279 million won (around Rp3.2 billion).

Kim Jong-un himself is not the only time this has appeared with another high-end Mercedes-Benz model, as he was previously seen using the old 600 edition of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS in January in footage broadcast by North Korea's national TV.

Previously, Kim was also seen riding a Mercedes-Maybach Pullman Guard armored limousine whose value was estimated at more than US$1 million (around Rp15 billion), this car was used by Kim when he met South Korean President Moon Jae-in in 2018.

Meanwhile, regarding the latest GLS 600 4 Matic specifications, this comes with several refreshes with other GLS models with a new bottom grip with a chrom layer, as well as a slightly higher front goal from the previous model. Maybach also embeds a 23-inch large set of rims. The new lighting system is also installed projecting a Maybach pattern onto the road when the door opens.

The update is also found in the interior, namely the refreshment of the new seat sarong which is equipped with a new diamond pattern on the luxury seat. Customers can be spoiled with an interior covered in Crystal White/Silver Gray or Mahogany Brown/Macchiato Beige colors.

This luxury SUV features several features such as steering wheels with touch control that helps drivers, the available MBUX Multi-Seat Entertainment system with three touchscreens, and is equipped with two USB ports on the center console.

In addition to offering a luxurious appearance and cabin, GLS 600 also offers impressive performance. Equipped with a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, this SUV can generate 557 dk and a 730 Nm torque.

Meanwhile, when viewed from the Mercedes Benz Indonesia website, the price for the Maybach GLS version starts at IDR 7.3 billion in Indonesia.
