GR Yaris Facelift Debut In Indonesia, TAM: There Are Many Car Lovers

PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) has launched GR Yaris Facelift at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) exhibition with a number of changes from outside to technical.

This car marked its debut in Indonesia after being introduced globally earlier this year via Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan.

This is the second time the GR Yaris model has been introduced in the country after previously TAM presented a pre-facelift version in 2021. Unlike the previous version, the company ensures that GR Yaris Facelift will be produced sustainably even though it has to go through a queue system. However, public interest regarding this hot hatch remains high.

Marketing Director of PT TAM Anton Jimmi Suwandi, said that enthusiasm for this model is quite high, even those who want to feel the sensation of driving.

"The enthusiasm is quite high, many of them want to test direct drives as well because the energy output is increasing," Anton said in the media in Tangerang, Saturday, July 27.

He also said that the acceptance of the model is almost the same as that of GR Corolla. However, the difference is that GR Corolla has been launched first so that the number of Vehicle Ordering Letters (SPK) is higher.

"The receipt is more or less the same, if GR Corolla because the information has been around for a long time, the SPK is indeed higher," said Anton.

This car at first glance has the same shape as the previous GR Yaris. However, when viewed closely, this hatchback has undergone a number of changes. The model is revised at the bottom front or the bumper has a new structure that is more sporting than ever before. The lower side lattices are now equipped with larger openings to ensure cooling performance.

Changes are also clearly visible on the back with the bottom being redesigned, to optimize aerodynamics and exhaust disposal. The back lights also experience changes designed to be interconnected from both sides.

GR Yaris Facelift is claimed to have better performance with an automatic transmission of eight accelerations developed and combined with a four-wheel drive (4WD).

Although the manufacturer maintains a 1.6 liter turbo engine as before, GR Yaris facelift has an enhanced power from 272 ps to 304 ps and torques from 370 Nm to 400 Nm, thus increasing the excitement of driving.

Toyota sells this hot hatch in two transmission variants, namely manual at a price of Rp1.15 billion and Rp1,198 billion for automatic transmission on The Road DKI Jakarta.
