Honda Prelude Concept Will Appear In Europe At The Goodwood Festival Of Speed This Month

JAKARTA - After appearing at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, the Honda Prelude Concept will be present in Europe for the first time, to be precise at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from 11-14 July.

The presence of this model also marks the 25th anniversary of Honda's hybrid technology existence in Europe. The Prelude Concept is expected to accelerate the growth of electrified vehicles in the region.

Chief Engineer and Large Project Leader Honda Motor Tomoyuki Yamagami, said the model not only offers environmentally friendly technology, but also sports driving pleasure.

Unfortunately, Honda is still silent about the specifications of the sedan. However, it is estimated that the production version of Prelude will use hybrid e: HEV technology from Civic, namely a 2.0 liter gasoline machine in collaboration with a pair of electric motors and produce 180 dk of power with 24 km/l of fuel consumption.

The new Coupe is expected to use a chassis most of the same as Civic, with a light aluminum subframe along with a wide rear track and a double-wishbone front suspension.

Yamagami also explained that the development of Prelude focuses on controlling drivers. Not only that, it will also pay special attention to the emotional aspect of the machine.

"This is linearity, progressivity, all these aspects have an impact on the sensation of the driver," Yamagami said on the Autocar page.

It is estimated that the car in the form of production will launch in the second half of 2025 and will not appear as a sports car or agile. Apart from Japan, Honda has not yet announced which market will offer this latest Prelude.

Previously, this model had existed for five generations and experienced a series of changes, including iconic designs with pop-up headlights in the second to third generations.

In short, the Honda Prelude Concept has again experienced fresher design changes in the next generation, making it suitable for driving in urban areas. However, this model had to be stopped production in October 2001 due to declining sales in the global market.
