Mercedes Benz Recall 2,380 EQ Series Electric Car Units In China Due To This Problem

JAKARTA - Bad news came from a luxury car manufacturer from Germany, namely the Mercedes Benz, which had to recall or recall more than 2,000 EQ series electric vehicles in China.

Quoting from the CNevpost page, Saturday, June 22, a total of 2,380 Mercedes Benz EQ series units were forced to be withdrawn due to the risk of vehicles losing power while driving. This refers to the announcement on the official Chinese State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) website.

In more detail, 29 EQS SUVs imported intact with production dates from November 28, 2023 to February 7, 2024, and 2,341 local production EQE SUVs with production dates between November 1, 2023 and April 25, 2024.

"Due to software deviations, the high-voltage battery management system in several vehicles included in this recall cannot process diagnostic requests from several control units," read a SAMR statement.

Based on the report, the above can cause high-voltage batteries to be cut off and vehicles lose power when used, thereby causing safety hazards.

Responding to the issue, Mercedes-Benz will upgrade the control unit software for the high-voltage battery management system for vehicles being recalled for free to eliminate safety hazards.

This withdrawal is the second time in several years that the German brand has withdrawn its vehicle in China.

Previously, on August 4, 2023 Mercedes-Benz recalled 2.324 imported EQS vehicles with a production date between June 14, 2021, to July 8, 2022.

Last year's recall was caused by a software problem that could cause the electric driving module to be disabled, causing the vehicle to lose power.
