Mercedes-Benz Opens Electric G-Class Coverage That Packs EQ Technology

JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz officially opened a fully electric G-Class sheath, a car known for its off-road greatness and was named G580 with EQ technology.

Quoting from the company's website, Thursday, April 25, as is known, this one model was previously a concept named EQG since 2021, and was created to give the same off-road impression or even better as a version with conventional powertrain, but this time without issuing any emissions at all.

Design is classified as similar to the conventional version, but there are several things that make it different and mark that this model is fully electric. For example, the front of the culling is equipped with a black panel, with a very clear brand logo. Meanwhile, the back contains a square-shaped box that can accommodate charging cables, and can also place spare tires as an option.

Entering the cabin, the dashboard layout is almost identical to that of ordinary G-Classes, with all the controls in tandem. Such as a 12.3-inch infotainment screen (digital instrument cluster and central touch screen) is also present, with the available options being an entertainment system in a 11.6-inch back seat.

There are many interesting features embedded, including Active Distance Assistance Assistance Distravic, Active Steering Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Attention Assist, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, and 360 degree camera.

More details, the Mercedes-Benz G580 builds on a skeletal chassis like the recently updated W465 G-Class, but with some revisions to accommodate its electric powertrain. The chassis has been strengthened to accommodate a large battery, and retains the same double-wishbone setup at the front.

Coming with a total of four electric motors, two at the front and two behind, the resulting power is channeled to the wheels through the double connection axis, providing a good balance.

This luxury car has a range of 473 km in WLTP, thanks to the presence of a lithium-ion battery with an energy capacity of 116 kWh. No need to worry about battery damage, in order to protect the battery from water and impurity intrusion, the battery is placed in a torque resistant casing. The bottom protection of the car body made of a mixture of intelligent materials including carbon also protects the battery from physical collisions.

The electric motorbike embedded in this one car produces 145 cellphones with a total of 580 cellphones and torques reaching 1,164 Nm, is it interesting? G-Class electricity can accelerate 0-100 km/hour in just 4.7 seconds, and the highest speed is limited to 180 km/hour.

The battery supports DC fast charging with a maximum power of 200 kW, with a 10-80 percent charging (SoC) status reached in just 32 minutes. It could also charge 11 kW of AC with a 10-100 percent charge that takes 11.77 hours.

The price has not been announced, but it is estimated that it is far above the latest G-Class which still packs conventional fuel.
