JAKARTA - Strengthening his commitment to electrification, Mazda announced partnering with well-known company Panasonic Energy as a cylinder-shaped lithium-ion battery supplier.

Reporting from the company's official website, Saturday, March 30, both Mazda and Panasonic reaffirmed their commitment to addressing various social challenges, such as global warming mitigation, encouraging sustainable growth in the automotive and battery sectors, supporting local jobs, and encouraging talent development.

This deal is a follow-up action they took earlier in June last year, when the two companies started discussions aimed at building medium to long-term partnerships for the supply of cylindrical lithium-ion automotive batteries.

Unfortunately, these two well-known companies have not disclosed details about this partnership. Details of this partnership will be announced at the right time.

Apart from Mazda, Panasonic is also partnering with Subaru in presenting cylindrical lithium-ion batteries for future vehicles. Panasonic is known as a major player in the battery industry, and recently they have intensively strengthened the supply chain of lithium-ion batteries in North America.

This is also in line with Mazda's vision to bring seven to eight Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) by 2030 and electric vehicles are targeted to account for 25-40 percent of total sales.

For now, this premium company from Japan remains flexible in adapting to the needs and desires of consumers who are looking for alternative solutions other than BEV.
