JAKARTA - Introduced in September last year, the fifth generation Mini Cooper finally entered the production phase at the Oxford, UK plant, one of the assembly centers owned by the BMW Group as the parent company.

Stefanie Wurst, as Head of Mini, said that this milestone is a manifestation of his party's commitment to presenting more vehicles with dynamic driving characteristics and satisfying these brand lovers.

"The Oxford factory is the heart of the Mini brand, and today as we witness the birth of a new chapter, we are renewing our commitment to driving expertise and sensations," Wurst said on the company's website, Wednesday, March 13.

With the start of production in Oxford, the model will be assembled in three locations in the UK, consisting of a Swindon plant that assembles body press and sub-rakitan, then a Hams Hall facility to build 3-cylinder and 4-cylinder machines, as well as Oxford which produces body shells, painting, and finalization of assembly.

The Oxford plant has given birth to more than 4.4 million Mini-branded vehicles since 2001, including 150,000 electric vehicles made between 2019 and 2023.

This latest Mini Cooper will be the third model to be assembled at the Oxford plant after the latest Cooper Electric and Countryman. This Hatchback presents a number of variants, ranging from type C as entry-level to S which have more powerful performance.

The car, which has a distinctive round-front light design, will be pegged at a price of 22,300 (equivalent to Rp44.3 million) and the first unit will be delivered starting this spring of the year in the UK.
