JAKARTA - PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) officially launched the latest Kona Electric in the IIMS 2024 event with significant changes compared to the previous generation. The changes start from exterior to interior.
This car uses a base from its gasoline version model featuring a compacter and stiffer design, but highlights the modern and futuristic sides.
"We present Kona Electric at a more affordable price with a simple design," said Francis Soerjopranoto, PT HMID's Chief Operating Officer at the launch event, Thursday, February 15.
Kona Electric 2024 features a finer front design with elongated DRL LED lights, which have become the hallmark of Hyundai for some of its models such as Stargazer, Staria, and Sonata which are sold in the US.
The successful parametric design on Ioniq 5 was also adopted in Kona Electric, especially seen on the side which has a stiffer and beautifully engraved appearance. However, Kona Electric retains its own design language and does not imitate its larger brother.

Kona Electric 2024 is also equipped with the Vehicle-to-Load feature, which allows this car to become an electric resource for housing with up to 1.7 kW of power.
Other features include a Smart Regenerative system that can adjust the brake regeneration energy based on traffic conditions, interior improvement with ambient lighting, interior accents according to body color, and a 12.3-inch dual panoramic screen for gauge clusters and infotainment systems.
Hyundai Kona Electric 2024 is equipped with an electric motorbike located at the front, with power reaching 201 dk and torque of 254 Nm for the Long Range variant. Meanwhile, the standard variant has a power of 133 dk and a torque of 254 Nm.
This car uses a 64.8 kWh battery pack that allows a range of up to 418 km according to the EPA cycle for the Long Range variant. While the standard battery pack is estimated to have a range of about 317 km.
