Kia Tasman's Pickup Caught On Camera Tested, Will Be Introduced This Year

The pickup body-on-frame (ladder frame) truck segment for the global market is dominated by a number of well-known models, including the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Hilux. However, both of them will have a new rival from a South Korean manufacturer, Kia.

The company, which was founded in 1944, has confirmed that it is developing pickup trucks for several markets, such as Asia and Australia.

The company also revealed that it will take a two-way approach in presenting its pickup ranks, namely ICE and EV.

For these pickup cars, they will carry the same platform on the Borrego model otherwise known as Mohave.

It is estimated that Australia will get a diesel model on the car that will be named 'Tasman', with a CRDi 2.2 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine unit.

Kia Tasman is expected to be revealed this year and will be sold soon for 2025.

Recently, the pickup truck was caught being tested in a form covered in a camouflage robe.

Reporting from carscoops, Monday, January 29, the pickup was caught on camera parked in South Korea by the Woopa TV Youtube channel. It can be seen that the shape of the pickup is very boxy like other Kia cars, such as EV9.

The look that adopts the EV9 model is also shown on the vertical DRL light at the front. In addition, the upper arch at the bottom of the rear window of this car reflects the style of its brother's model.

The engine hood in this model is very stiff with vertical front and rear fascia, rims, rear mirrors, and passenger cabins also in the square shape which gives a strong impression.

Although the back tub looks shorter, Kia strives to develop the car more practically. In addition, they add a practical foothold to the back bumper while making it easier for users to carry and retrieve equipment in this section.
