BYD Adds Pikap Segment, EV And PHEV Version Available

JAKARTA - BYD plans to complete its vehicle model and is preparing to penetrate the pickup segment. This is evidenced by the brand testing one of the double-cabin pickups.

Based on camerashots from Autopsy, Monday, January 8, the car was seen walking on the highway without a camouflage blanket, so the appearance of this model looks very clear.

In addition to a formidable exterior design, the interior is also clearly visible. You can see a pair of screens consisting of one driver's instrument and infotainment like other BYD models.

Although the spy image is a vehicle with a left wheel that is in accordance with China's state regulations, the unit of the pickup is available in Australia and is being tested.

"There will be design elements created [over the period] six to nine months, so there are already elements suitable for Australia, re-engineered into the vehicle to better suit Australian conditions," said EVDirect CEO (Australian BYD distributor), Luke Todd, according to CarExpert alert, Monday, January 8.

In terms of powertrain, the pickup will offer a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or Electric Vehicle (EV) system and will debut in the coming months. This means that this car will carry a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine combined with a dual electric motor producing a total power of 365 kW.

Unfortunately, the company has not disclosed specifications for the EV version. However, BYD ensures that it will bring this zero emission pickup to the market and is expected to be priced above 100.000 Australian dollars (or more than IDR 1 billion).
