JAKARTA - The year 2024 marks the emergence of several new models in the automotive industry, one of which is Polestar 3. This SUV is expected to be present in the United States market in the middle of this year.

Reporting from InsideEVs, Tuesday, January 2, the Swedish manufacturer indicated that Polestar 3's first unit shipment will be made in the second quarter of 2024. The model is produced in two locations, namely in Chengdu, China, and at the Volvo Cars Ridgeville plant, South Carolina, United States.

Polestar 3 will use the same platform as Volvo EX90, namely Scalable Product Architecture (SPA2). However, the main difference between the two is that Polestar 3 comes in two-line configurations and five seats, giving its own identity in the market segment.

The SUV is offered in two variants with dual electric motors, namely the Long Range Dual Motor and the highest variant with the Performance package. The difference lies in the highest variant offering increased power, 22-inch rims, revised chassis settings, and several other changes.

Powered by the same battery pack as Volvo EX90, namely 111 kWh, Polestar 3 is claimed to be able to reach a distance of about 482 km according to the EPA cycle. Meanwhile, the Performance variant offers a distance of about 434 km due to higher performance.

In terms of battery charging, Polestar 3 will be equipped with an 11 kW onboard charger and capable of refilling from 0 to 100 percent in 11 hours. However, like his brother, this car is also compatible with a 250 kW fast charger, allowing charging from 10 to 80 percent within 30 minutes.

Polestar 3 electric motor has a power of 360 kW. For the highest variant, this car offers up to 380 kW of power and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 97 km/hour in 4.6 seconds.

With impressive performance and technology, Polestar 3 is sold at prices ranging from 85,300 US dollars or around Rp1.3 billion for the basic variant, while the highest variant is valued at around 91,300 US dollars or around Rp1.4 billion.

Polestar is a Swedish brand currently under Volvo Cars, a subsidiary of Geely Holdings Group. Therefore, Polestar often releases vehicles based on the Volvo platform.
