Mazda Ensures CX-70 New SUV Launch Postponed Until 2024

JAKARTA - The launch of Mazda's new SUV, namely the CX-70, which was originally scheduled for November, has been confirmed to be canceled and postponed until 2024.

Reporting from CarBuzz, Monday, October 23, the car is expected to be present in the hybrid version, with the hope that it can provide a level of luxury comparable to CX-90 but at a more affordable price than CX-90, this is certainly an attraction in itself.

The CX-70 crossover will use the same platform as its predecessor, equipped with two engine variants, namely a 3.3 L and a 2.5 L 4-cylinder engine. The 2.5 L engine will be equipped with plug-in hybrid technology which has a 17.8 kWh battery.

It is possible that adjustments will be made to each machine to adjust the characteristics of the CX-70 to be different from the CX-90 model.

Mazda continues to invest in electrification, especially in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles, following in the footsteps of Honda and Toyota. In fact, several hybrid models have been well received on the market.

In addition to focusing on the hybrid, Mazda is also planning to launch a pure electric car in 2025. This was revealed by North Mazda CEO, Tom waste.

Even though he didn't provide specific information about the new EV, he confirmed that the car would use a known name and would likely be a crossover.
