Previously, the implementation of the 2020 Pilkada was the toughest event. Conditions because Indonesia is battling COVID-19. As a result, the regional elections are considered to have the potential to cause a large number of transmissions of the corona virus.

The owner of attorney had announced that the Pilkada would be held on September 23, 2020. It is planned that the regional elections will be held simultaneously in 270 regions. However, the desire had to be canceled. This condition is because the implementation of the 2020 Pilkada is at high risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) views that the stages of elections from campaigns to elections can become a new cluster of virus transmission from Wuhan. As a result, through various considerations the 2020 Pilkada was postponed to 9 December 2020.

The decision was supported by various parties. Paslon immediately heated up his political engine for the campaign to gain votes. Problems arise. Campaigns cannot be done as usual. They invited their party-packed sympathizers.

This is because there is a COVID-19 process that must be enforced. Among other things, the campaign method carried out was only limited to 50 meetings attended by 50 people. That alone has to keep a distance of 1 meter. The owner of the campaign is also required to provide health equipment such as masks, gloves, and hand sanitizers.

As a result, the beginning of the campaign alone was a violation committed by the months, from dealing with the number of people to not keeping a distance. Something that is considered to trigger the growth of the number of COVID-19 transmissions.

The violation of the prokes also reached Mahfud MD. The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs was furious, not playing games. He reminded the government to be firm with prokes violators on November 24, 2020. Mahfud also threatened to take action against candidate pairs criminally, fines, and warnings.

According to Mahfud, the worst thing is that candidate pairs participating in the regional elections can be disqualified. Mahfud revealed that the government was not playing games in responding to violations of the prokes. This condition is because the campaign carried out can trigger high transmission of COVID-19.

Mahfud also requested that all elements of society move to succeed in the 2020 Pilkada simultaneously. He also asked the public to choose a candidate pair according to conscience. Choose quality.
