Former Minister Of Health Siti Fadilah Supari Sentenced To Four Years In Prison Due To Corruption In Today's Memory, June 16, 2017

JAKARTA Memories of today, eight years ago, June 16, 2017, the Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced the former Minister of Health (Menkes), Siti Fadilah Supari to four years in prison for corruption in medical devices (alkes). Siti is considered legal and convincing to cost the state around Rp. 5.7 billion.

Previously, Siti was known as the Minister of Health who excelled. He is famous for being brave. He is famous as the Minister of Health who dared to reject the global health agenda. Later, Siti's ulcer was exposed. In fact, he was considered to have committed medical equipment corruption.

The election of the minister is indeed a political decision. However, President SBY did not want to place people outside the health world for the position of the Minister of Health. He chose that position to be inhabited by Siti Fadilah Supari from 2004.

Siti is a cardiologist and cardiologist. SBY believes Siti's experience in the health world for more than 25 years can bring the Ministry of Health forward. He tried to map out all kinds of health issues in Indonesia. SBY's decision to place Siti was proven when the world was excited by the outbreak of bird flu that spread in 2004.

The world health agency, WHO considers the outbreak dangerous. However, Siti sees it different. He analyzes and sees the bird flu as harmless. In fact, bird flu will not spread to humans. He also asked the Indonesian people not to panic until the issue of bird flu disappeared by itself.

Siti's position as Minister of Health did end in 2009. However, President SBY still wants to use Siti's services. SBY then tried to appoint Siti as an member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) for health in 2010.

Siti's job as Wantimpres is to give advice and consideration to the President. This means that every country has problems related to health issues, Siti can provide important input. This trust is because SBY has seen Siti's footsteps for himself.

"I think maybe my considerations are needed (the President). Hopefully, my considerations are really needed. What is clear is that wherever I am, I will always fight for the interests of the people. I don't think there is a compromise to fight for the interests of the people," said Siti as quoted by the Kompas.com page. January 25, 2010.

Problems arise. Recently, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detected that Siti was involved in corruption in the procurement of medical devices in 2013. Siti was considered to have abused her authority and power in the procurement of medical equipment to anticipate extraordinary events (KLB) when she served in 2005.

Siti was accused of accepting bribes amounting to Rp3.2 billion. He is considered to have cost the state up to Rp5.7 billion. The trial took place. The judge considers Siti has approved a budget revision for medical equipment procurement activities. He also allowed PT Graha Ismaya as a supplier for medical equipment procurement.

At its peak, Siti was sentenced to four years in prison by the panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court on June 16, 2017. Siti was also required to pay a fine of Rp. 200 million, a subsidiary of 2 months in prison. However, Siti still did not want to admit her actions.

Even so, the decision was considered lighter than the demands of the KPK prosecutor. They demanded six years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million. All because of mitigating considerations, the panel of judges considered Siti to have never dealt with the law. He also contributed to fighting the Bird Flu.
