Sutiyoso Affirms Ahok Is His Student Child In Today's Memory, January 22, 2015

JAKARTA Memories of today, 10 years ago, January 22, 2015, the former governor of DKI Jakarta from the 1997-2007 era, Sutiyoso praised the performance of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). The man who is familiarly called Bang Yos admitted that Ahok's courage so far in bureaucratic reform was the result of his education.

Previously, Ahok was known as a brave DKI Jakarta leader. He became a straight official. Anyone who doesn't do his job well will be replaced. Ahok even dared to echo the massive bureaucratic reform in Jakarta.

The leadership of Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Ahok has been bringing optimism in Jakarta since 2012. Jokowi with his blusukan style. Ahok with his assertiveness. Both like filling each other out. However, when Jokowi became President of Indonesia, the position of Governor of DKI Jakarta was passed on to Ahok in 2014.

This condition did not make Ahok afraid. Ahok continues to carry out his routine with enthusiasm. All kinds of complaint mediums from complaint tables to Ahok SMS remain available. This method keeps Ahok connected with Jakarta residents.

Ahok did not forget his tough and careful attitude. He saw that many of his staff did not work optimally. This condition made him carry out a massive overhaul of DKI Jakarta officials, from the Mayor's level to others on January 2, 2015.

Ahok made an efficiency from 8,011 structural positions to only 6,511. Those who excel will get strategic positions. Meanwhile, those who will not be abandoned. Later there will also be a three-month assessment for elected officials.

Who has good performance will survive. Those whose performance is normal will be eliminated. This step was taken so that the DKI Jakarta government can work well. Jakarta residents also get maximum service.

"Many have asked why I was not elected or rejected, I say if you are doing the right thing, you will definitely be accepted. We will make efficiency from 8,011 structural positions, we will cut it to 6,511, we are still emptying around 1,500 positions because we feel the point is not in structural positions but serving the community".

"If there is a mistake, we will evaluate it for three months. Maybe from the inaugurated one there is a KKN or it is so stupid to escape or look for a shaman, not because of the greatness of the shaman, but it could be because he happened to have escaped," Ahok said as quoted on the detik.com page, January 2, 2015.

Ahok's courage to carry out massive bureaucratic reform has received praise from many parties. Sutiyoso became one of them. The former governor of DKI Jakarta came to Ahok at City Hall on January 22, 2015.

Sutiyoso praised Ahok's brave performance. He thought that Ahok's courage in carrying out bureaucratic reform was thanks to his training. This condition was because Ahok had been a Sutiyoso expert staff for one year when he led Jakarta.

This experience made Ahok able to find out which officials are working and which are not. Sutiyoso admitted that he had never heard of any regional leaders carrying out such a large reshuffle of officials, apart from Ahok.
