JAKARTA - Saipul Jamil's return from prison is still tinged with controversy from the public. It's not about his release on September 2, but the way the media responds to the dangdut singer.

This controversy was also heard by the famous cleric from Yogyakarta, Gus Miftah. Through his Instagram account today, September 5, he shared his perspective on the Saipul Jamil incident.

"I understand why, "good people have a past and bad people have a future," he said after questioning whether Saipul was an Olympic champion.

"But please, don't be too euphoric... out from prison should be an introspection and reflection on all sins and mistakes, not as if you won..." he said further.

According to Gus Miftah, he was worried that the public would take Saipul Jamil's actions lightly, namely the harassment and rape of minors.

"REMEMBER YOU ARE THE PERPETRATOR NOT THE VICTIMS!!!" said Gus Miftah.

He advised Saipul Jamil to continue to repent and ask Allah for forgiveness. "Except for those who believe and do good deeds and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to patience," he said.
