JAKARTA - There is good news as well as surprising for film addicts, especially those who like actor Keanu Reeves. Two films that starred; The Matrix 4 and John Wick 4 will hit theaters on the same day in 2021. Or, 18 months from now.

Last August, reports said John Wick 4, the sequel to John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, will air May 21, 2021. Warner Bros. Studios confirmed Wednesday that The Matrix 4 - currently untitled - will also hit theaters on that date.

Lana Wachowski, writer and director of the three previous Matrix films, will return to lead the project. In a statement, the president of Warner Bros. Picture Group Toby Emmerich said that he is very excited to involve Lana in the fourth film of the Matrix.

"Lana is a true visionary, an original creative filmmaker, and we are excited that she is back to writing, directing and producing a new chapter in the universe of 'The Matrix'," Emmerich said, launching NME.

Meanwhile, another lineup of actors who will appear include Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jada Pinkett Smith. Earlier this week, Frozen II and Mindhunter stars Jonathan Groff were also confirmed to be joining.

This will be the first Matrix film released since The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions in 2003. Reeves will return to play the character Neo, while Moss will play Trinity. The shooting process will begin in early 2020.

Meanwhile last May, director John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, Chad Stahelski opened his voice about the upcoming Matrix 4 to Yahoo Movies UK.

"I am very happy, the Wachowski family is not only working on the Matrix, but they are also developing what we love."

For your information. Before turning to directing, Stahelski worked as a stuntman in Hollywood - he was Reeves' stunt-double in the Matrix trilogy.
