Daniel Radcliffe In Response To JK Rowling's Statement On Transparency

JAKARTA - Actor Daniel Radcliffe opened his voice regarding JK Rowling's tweet on Twitter on Monday, June 8. The Harry Potter actor wrote an essay that began with "Transgender women are women."

Radcliffe uploaded his writings through the website of The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization that focuses on suicide prevention for LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer).

The 30-year-old actor cited the fact that 78 percent of transgender people reported experiencing discrimination because of their gender identity.

"We need to support transgender and non-binary people, not erase their identity, and do no harm,"

In addition, Radcliffe also shared a short guide for Rowling to understand transgender issues through the website The Trevor Project.

The Guns Akimbo player realizes that many Harry Potter fans are disappointed by the statement made by JK Rowling - the author of their favorite book. Radcliffe also added his response to fans.

Although this contradicts Rowling's opinion, she hopes that the media will not take her statement as a sign that she and Rowling are fighting. Radcliffe felt he had to talk about this.

However, removing the concept of gender takes away from the ability of many people to discuss their lives more meaningfully. It is not hate when you tell the truth," Rowling added.
