JAKARTA - One of the creators and writers of the John Wick franchise screenplay, Derek Kolstad, revealed that the films were originally given different titles.

The films changed names after lead actor Keanu Reeves repeatedly called them under the wrong title.

In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Kolstad said the first film in the series was originally set as Scorn. However, Reeves repeatedly referred to him as John Wick.

So often, the title stuck in everyone's mind that it ended up being the title for this box office film.

"The only reason this film is called John Wick is Keanu keeps referring to him as John Wick,"

John Wick creator and screenwriter Derek Kolstad.

"I can't imagine if the film was called Scorn now," he continued.

The fourth film in the John Wick franchise is due out in 2022. Earlier this month, the John Wick 4 release date was postponed for another two years due to the outbreak of COVID-19 which halted production.

News of the postponement has debunked the fan theory that the film's release will intersect with The Matrix 4, another film starring Keanu Reeves.

Meanwhile, a series of John Wick prequels entitled The Continental was confirmed to be in the works earlier this year.

Discussing whether Reeves will appear in the prequel series, the boss of America's premium cable and satellite television networks, STARZ Jeffrey Hirsch said he would not provide any leaks.

"That's a very good question that I will not answer. No tantalizing answers you will get. This is a great franchise, we are delighted to bring The Continental into our network," he said.
