Nude Scenes In Game Of Thrones And Consequences On The Cast

JAKARTA - Nathalie Emmanuel, the actress who played the character Missandei in the popular series Game of Thrones, explained the consequences she faced after having nude scenes in the event.

The 32-year-old actress stressed that she would turn down a project offer if she was asked to be fully naked during a series or film.

"When I played on Game of Thrones, I agreed with certain nudity or nudity scenes in the show," Emmanuel told the Make It Reign with Josh Smith podcast.

"And the perception from other projects, when the role required nudity, was that I was open to doing anything because I was doing it in that one show.

"There were people who challenged me and said, 'But this part requires that (nudity,' and I said, 'It's okay if you ask for that part; but I don't feel comfortable doing that level of nudity. , which I think is necessary for this section'.

"(If they asked for full nudity I'd say) 'Okay, thanks a lot, I appreciate your interest but that's not what I feel is necessary for this piece and that's a difference of opinion and creative difference and that's okay'."

Van Houten also expressed his unease

Nathalie Emmanuel isn't the first actress to change her mind about nude scenes after her participation in Game of Thrones, as Carice Van Houten, who plays Melisandre, has also expressed her discontent in the past.

"When the Me Too movement started, that's when it started to seep into me," Van Houten told Insider.

"And it changed my perspective on my entire career, not just Game of Thrones.

"In retrospect, I thought, 'Why did that scene have to be naked? Why is that normal?' I do question a lot of things and it's not that I blame anyone, but that's how we evolved, and how the movement affected me."

Clarke's Disappointment

Emilia Clarke, the actress who played Daenerys Targaryen in the series, revealed in 2019 that she was asked to appear nude during one of the productions.

"I've had fights on set before where I said 'no' and they were like: 'You don't want to disappoint your Game of Thrones fans,'" he said on the Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast.

"And I was like 'perse***'. I think it's enough now to know what's really needed."
