JAKARTA - Mongolian culture for centuries is known to be closely related to nomadic life, horse-riding traditions, to the ability to shoot arrows that are passed down from generation to generation.

The resilient character of the community is even recorded in world history when the Mongols, under the leadership of Genghis Khan, managed to build one of the largest land empires in the 13th to 14th centuries.

The distinctive cultural nuances are now being introduced to the Indonesian people through various cultural activities, including a special session entitled "Go Mongolia" at the "Jakarta Marketing Week 2026" event.

During the event, the Ambassador of Mongolia to Indonesia D. Enkhtaivan together with the founder and chairman of PT Jababeka Tbk and also the Mongolian Cultural Envoy in Indonesia, Setyono Djuandi (SD) Darmono, shared stories about the richness of Mongolian traditions that are synonymous with nomadic life and legendary archery skills.

Until now, many Indonesians still think that the experience of knowing Mongolian culture can only be felt by visiting the country directly. In fact, now the typical atmosphere of Mongolia can be enjoyed without having to travel far abroad.

People who want to get to know more about Mongolian culture can now come to the Tanjung Lesung tourist area, Pandeglang, Banten. In this area stands the Mongolian Culture Center, a cultural tourism area that presents a typical experience of the Mongol country.

Built on an area of about one hectare, this place invites visitors to understand the nomadic life, traditions, and the history of the Mongolian people. One of its main attractions is the Ger, a traditional Mongolian tent in the shape of a circle with a wooden woven frame covered with white cloth.

Not only unique from the exterior, the inside of the Ger also displays a strong Mongolian ethnic feel through the dominance of orange and traditional carvings. Inside, visitors can see a variety of Mongolian traditional clothing, ranging from the warrior's costume to the emperor's and queen's clothing complete with his insignia.

Interestingly, visitors are also allowed to wear these clothes and take photos like the Mongol royal family. This experience is one of the favorite activities for tourists when visiting the Mongolian Culture Center.

After touring and taking photos, visitors can try archery activities in the central area of the area. This activity is inspired by the archery skills of the famous Mongols during their heyday. History records that the arrow is one of the main weapons used by the Mongols in various conquests of the region.

Visiting the Mongolian Culture Center gives the experience of traveling across cultures. Since entering the gate of the area, visitors are immediately greeted by an atmosphere designed to resemble Mongolia.

All areas are developed directly with the Mongolian Ambassador by presenting various original materials and ornaments that are imported from Mongolia. One of the most striking icons is the large statue of Genghis Khan that stands majestically near the entrance to the area.

"It does not feel like it, 2026 will be the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Indonesia. We hope that this good relationship will continue to be closely intertwined, not only in cultural collaboration, but also in tourism and various other forms of partnership," said D. Enkhtaivan in his speech.

The journey to the Mongolian Culture Center is now also more practical. According to SD Darmono, the existence of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Section I makes the travel time from Jakarta to around 2.5 to 3 hours.

In fact, when the construction of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Section 2 and 3 is completed by the end of 2026, the journey is estimated to take only about two hours from Jakarta.

In addition to enjoying Mongolian culture, tourists can also try various other tourist activities in Tanjung Lesung, both at sea, on land, and in the air. For marine tourism, there is a sailing club for fishing and a beach club with various water sports such as jetski, banana boat, donut boat, snorkeling, and kayaking.

Meanwhile, land activities include ATVs, bicycles, and electric bicycles. Visitors can even rent a small plane with a capacity of four people to enjoy the panorama of Mount Krakatoa and Anak Krakatoa from the air.

As a tourist area developed by PT Jababeka Tbk, Tanjung Lesung also offers various accommodation options with a variety of prices that can be adjusted to the needs of tourists, ranging from families, couples, groups, to solo travelers.

"I hope people can come to Tanjung Lesung, enjoy the atmosphere, and experience firsthand how unique Mongolian cultural life is without having to go far abroad," concluded SD Darmono.
