Former Andy Doesn't Appear in Devil Wears Prada 2, Here's the Reason

JAKARTA - The Devil Wears Prada 2 film stars several names from the first film's cast, including Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. Among those names, not a few have questioned the presence of actor Adrian Grenier who played a role in the first film.

Adrian Grenier plays Nate, Andy's boyfriend played by Anne Hathaway. In the story, Nate breaks up with Andy and becomes her ex.

Director David Frankel, who directed both Devil Wears Prada films, explained why Adrian Grenier did not join the sequel.

"I had an idea to include him as a cameo, in the end, it was too late in our production schedule to make it happen," David Frankel told Entertainment Weekly.

Frankel explained that filming was completed a month before the release schedule was obtained, so they didn't have time to make changes.

On the other hand, Adrian Grenier had revealed his disappointment at not being invited to join The Devil Wears Prada 2. He thought the public's perception of Nate's character made his character not 'raised'.

"We are all fans of the film, whether we are or not. Of course, it's disappointing that I wasn't contacted for the sequel. But I also understand there was a negative reaction to Nate, his character, so that may have something to do with it," explained Adrian Garnier.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 continues the story of the first one, namely Andy (Anne Hathaway) who is back to help Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) who is facing changes in the media industry. They compete with Emily (Emily Blunt) who now works for a luxury brand.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be released in Indonesian cinemas starting April 29.
