Rey Bong Bangun's Unique Way to Build Chemistry with Mawar de Jong in the Latest Film

JAKARTA - Building chemistry in an acting project is not easy. This is what young actor Rey Bong felt when he had to act with Mawar de Jongh in their latest project which took place in Yogyakarta in the film Ayah Ini Arahnya Kemana, Ya?

On one occasion, Mawar de Jongh called Rey Bong "glue" or glue in the middle of their family in the film. In response to the nickname, Rey Bong also shared behind-the-scenes stories about his efforts to soften the atmosphere, especially in the face of Mawar's tendency to be closed.

"Actually, from the process we prep until we shoot for almost a month in Yogyakarta, there were no significant difficulties. But at first, Mbak Mawar is indeed quite introverted, "said Rey Bong at the launch of the official trailer and poster, Tuesday, March 24.

Rey Bong recounted how awkward their first meeting was during the reading session. As someone who first worked with Mawar, Rey Bong admitted that he was confused because Mawar's response was very stingy.

"On the first day we prep, we read, Ms. Mawar is just that... (silent) that's it. I'm like an hour or two, ah, I can't do this person, when I'm walking around. I'm talking to him, he nods, he jokes, there's no laughter," recalled Rey Bong.

In order to break the stiffness and adapt to his character as Darin who has a rebellious nature (rebel), Rey Bong decided to "go crazy" in the reading room. He did not hesitate to be very relaxed, even tending to be strange in front of his co-star.

"Finally, I don't want to be crazy in the reading room. I'm under, when others are reading, I'm lying on the sofa. That's how I explore Darin's character so that Ms. Mawar gets used to her rebellious brother," he added.

Funny, Rey Bong also flirted with Mawar about the other side of himself that was recently seen on social media. He alluded to Mawar's Eid TikTok video that went viral because it showed her cheerful side that was rarely exposed.

"Except in the TikTok video for Eid yesterday, yes, that's how (demonstrating TikTok movements). Rarely, yes, who hasn't watched it, try opening TikTok," Rey Bong teased, which was greeted with laughter by Mawar and everyone in the room.

Thanks to Rey Bong's efforts as the "glue", the atmosphere of the one-month shoot in Yogyakarta was warm. Rey Bong's transformation from his original attitude to the wild Darin character proved to be effective in making Mawar de Jongh more open and building a solid brother-sister bond in front of the camera.

The film Ayah Ini Arahnya Kemana, Ya? itself will begin airing on April 9 with the participation of well-known actors such as Dwi Sasono, Unique Priscilla, to Baskara Mahendra.
