Denada Reveals the Reason for Keeping the Status of Mother for Ressa's Future 'Picture Perfect'

JAKARTA - Singer Denada finally spoke up about the painful reason behind her decision to hand over her first son, Ressa Rizky Rossano, to be raised by her relatives in Banyuwangi.

He emphasized that this was not done because he wanted to throw away his child, but rather to provide an ideal family picture for Ressa's growth and development.

"Ressa is not a mistake, Ressa is not thrown away. I never threw her away. I took care of her, I defended her, and I gave birth to her," said Denada as quoted from Feni Rose Official YouTube, Monday, March 16.

For Denada, at that time she was stuck in a dilemma between the ego of a mother and the future of a child. He felt unable to provide a complete family if Ressa stayed with him, given his unmarried status at that time.

"My image at that time, Ressa would be with close family, where Om Dino and Tante Ratih have long wanted a boy. I think it's perfect, because Ressa will grow up where she will see a father figure and a mother figure," he said.

Denada felt that the decision was the best way for Ressa not to get a negative stigma from the social environment.

"He will not be bullied because he doesn't have a father. Because everyone is afraid of Ibu (Eyang) and everyone there is very respectful of the family," he added.

However, as time went on, the feeling of "perfection" turned into a deep hole of regret. Denada admitted that she had felt that her past decision was a big mistake.

"The decision is in my opinion a wrong decision. If I could turn back time, ouch, it was right, it should have been me, it was me," said Denada.

He had talked about this regret to his mother, Emilia Contessa, before he died.

"I once told Mama and I'm really sorry, God, I'm really sorry to say this. I told Mama, I'm sorry," he said.

Now, Denada can only surrender to the call 'Mbak' which is still pinned by Ressa to him. Although in his heart, he really misses the recognition as a mother in full.

"If I'm asked, I certainly want to be called 'Mom'. But I feel that I'm not fair to him if I come and say 'Call me Mom anyway'. It's not fair according to me," he concluded.
