JAKARTA - Indonesia is preparing a new wave in the creative and cultural industries. Through the MTN Wave: Wave of Indonesian Cultural Arts Talent, the National Talent Management (MTN) of Cultural Arts officially summarizes the achievement of talent development which is now positioned as a strategic investment towards Indonesia's Gold 2045.
The national priority program which is supported by Bappenas and managed by the Ministry of Culture no longer views art as mere expression, but rather as a structured human resource asset.
Director General of Development, Utilization, and Cultural Development (PPPK), Ahmad Mahendra, emphasized that the MTN Cultural Arts was designed as a "trajectory" or career path, not a one-way program.
"We facilitate talent from the nursery stage to international recognition. The goal is clear: ensuring Indonesian artists have broad access and competitiveness in the global market," said Ahmad Mahendra. To date, the program has reached tens of thousands of talents and collaborated with hundreds of partners ranging from local sanggar to international art markets.
Packed with creative direction from Rangga Djoened, MTN Wave presents five main art fields - appearance, performance, music, film, and literature - as five waves that resonate with each other.
This event was opened with an installation by Sigit D. Pratama which presented data on achievements in the past year, followed by the main performance entitled "Resonansa: From a Small Point to a Wave of Civilization". This performance is a metaphor for the journey of a talent, from exploring potential to making a real contribution to civilization.
The MTN Wave stage is a meeting space for big names and future talent:
Visual Art (Rupa Mantra): Featuring the visual depth of artists such as Arifa Safura to Taufiqurrahman Kifu.
Film & Literature: Involving filmmaker Lola Amaria and writers such as Reda Gaudiamo, Lala Bohang, to the support of writer Dewi 'Dee' Lestari.
Music (Equatorial Symphony): Featuring a variety of genres from Kunto Aji, Basboi, to the sound exploration of Djangat Indonesia and Gondrong Gunarto.
This big narrative is woven in an elegant way by actor Lukman Sardi as a narrator and Siko Setyanto, creating a modern, relevant, and forward-looking performance.
Through MTN Wave, Indonesia confirms its commitment to not let the art talent go it alone. The government is present to guide every potential point to be able to transform into a wave that gives meaning to the future of the nation's culture.
