JAKARTA - The continuation of the case of alleged drug trafficking that ensnared actor Ammar Zoni at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) is heating up again.
The agenda of the trial this time highlights the alleged violence in the investigation process after a witness from the police provided his testimony.
During the trial held on Thursday, January 15, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) questioned a police witness named Mario regarding the issue of physical action against the defendants.
"Is there any (violence)?", asked the JPU with a firm tone in the Central Jakarta PN court room.
Mario who was sitting in the witness chair immediately objected. He emphasized that the entire examination process had been carried out according to procedure without any element of violence.
"Ready, Madam, according to what I said earlier, with the information I just said there is also nothing," replied Mario calmly.
Considering that the witness's testimony was given under oath, the JPU again reminded Mario of the legal and moral consequences of his statement.
"Really? You have been sworn in, this is the responsibility of God," said the JPU.
"Ready Bu," Mario replied briefly.
Tensions increased when the JPU began detailing the type of violence claimed to have been experienced by the defendant the previous week. There is an allegation that there are individuals who have kicked the defendant to the ground.
"Is it true? There is no denunciation, kicked? Is there anyone who said last week that his friend fell and was kicked, is there?" said the JPU.
However, Mario remained adamant that the incident never happened.
Not stopping there, the JPU also questioned the use of stun guns in the interrogation room. Mario admitted that his party did have the tools, but they were not brought in during the examination.
"Ready, because our stun gun was left in the car, no Bu," Mario said when asked if the device was prepared to intimidate the defendant.
This statement by the police witness is in contrast to the confession of Ammar Zoni and the other four defendants. Ammar firmly stated that the confession video that has been the evidence is only the result of a scenario under pressure.
"You swore, sir. We five can testify. Is there no arrest? No beating? No suppression?" challenged Ammar Zoni in front of the panel of judges.
The actor even asked the panel of judges to open the CCTV footage at the detention house (prison) to prove the truth behind the investigation process.
"The five of us asked His Majesty to present CCTV from the Rutan on January 3. My confession is indeed like that in the video, but my confession is based on pressure," said Ammar.
Previously, Ammar Zoni et al. had withdrawn the statement in the Examination Report (BAP) with the excuse of intimidation during the period of detention.
