Jo Jin Woong in Controversy, Drama Production Team “Signal 2” Speaks Out

JAKARTA - The production team of the Korean drama Signal 2 or The Second Signal released a statement after one of their actors, Jo Jin Woong, chose to retire. This is related to the revelation of Jo Jin Woong's past who has a criminal record.

On December 5, Jo Jin Woong revealed that he had a criminal record in school days ranging from stealing to committing violence. In adulthood, he also had a DUI or driving under the influence of alcohol.

Without denying it, Jin Woong confirmed the news and chose to retire from the acting world and the entertainment industry. The actor himself has just completed filming Signal 2 which is scheduled to air in 2026.

Korean drama Signal is a hit Korean drama that returns for a sequel after almost 10 years. The main cast: Kim Hye Soo, Lee Je Hoon, and Jo Jin Woong have also confirmed starring in the sequel.

"The Second Signal is a project we prepared with attention to be released in summer 2026 as an expression of thanks to the audience who waited 10 years. As we face the current situation, we empathize with your concerns and our hearts are heavy," the drama's production team said on Friday, December 19.

The production team explained that they were discussing the best steps to take for the audience, especially fans.

"From the plan to production, The Second Signal was made through the efforts of staff, actors, and partners," he said.

"To maintain the value that "Signal" holds, we will make every effort to provide the best for our project and audience even if we have to take time," the production team concluded.

The Second Signal drama is also planned as one of the drama titles for release in 2026 and celebrates tvN's 20th anniversary.
