JAKARTA - Cultural conservation efforts in various regions continue to be intensified in response to the changing times and challenges of modernization. The preservation of this culture is not only related to maintaining past wealth, but also ensuring cultural values remain relevant and passed on to the next generation.
Through cultural activities involving the community, local governments, and traditional stakeholders, the space to introduce and strengthen local cultural identity is increasingly open. In this context, the 2025 Regional Culture Week (PKD) was held as an important forum to care for the richness of traditions in West Java.
The West Java Tourism and Culture Office (Disparbud) stated that the 2025 PKD which was held in the Kasepuhan Cirebon Palace Square was an important momentum in strengthening the preservation and advancement of culture from districts/cities in the province.
The head of the West Java Disparbud, Iendra Sofyan, emphasized that PKD is an annual agenda prepared to care for, maintain, and promote existing cultural wealth. The city of Cirebon was chosen as the host because it was considered to have strong cultural, traditional, and artistic diversity.
West Java PKD is our flagship program in cultural conservation. At the direction of the Governor, in less than a month it was decided that the activity would be held in Cirebon City," he said.
