JAKARTA - Education is not just preparing knowledge, but also providing character, adaptability, and resilience to face increasingly complex challenges. Effective education must be able to instill critical, collaborative, and innovative competencies. So that the younger generation does not only survive, but also excel in facing a future full of uncertainty.

Director of the Indonesian International Education Foundation (IEF), Diana Kartika, expressed her views on the current condition of the younger generation. This was stated in the IIEF Event Launching Book 'Gold Generation 2045: What Makes Us Different?'.

"With enthusiasm, I am optimistic. But of course, at the same time especially compared to my era, when I grew up to be their age, life now feels much more complex," he said when met in the Kuningan area, Setiabudi, South Jakarta on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

"The challenges are much more diverse. So I can say the future will be very challenging. Therefore, better quality and attitude are needed so that we can be adaptive, resilient, and have broad insight in dealing with various situations," he continued.

He emphasized that the challenges faced by today's generation are very different from the previous generation, especially in the context of social media, public expectations, and globalization. But optimism remains an important requirement to deal with this complexity.

In line with that, Komnas Perempuan Commissioner, Aji Putera Tanumihardja, highlighted the importance of hope and empowerment of the younger generation.

"I was invited to see how Indonesia's future will be in the future. Are there still any remaining hopes to go to what it says is often perceived as an anxious Indonesia in 2045. This book is a glimmer of hope and optimism for Indonesia's future," explained Aji.

"With extraordinary resources, extraordinary human resources, we have a future, yes, this book should be read by the president and officials," he added.

According to Aji, the younger generation, especially Gen, has a new way to oversee and control the country through social and digital innovation, in contrast to the previous generation's way of relying more on physical action or demonstrations.

This emphasizes that the future of the nation relies heavily on the ability of the younger generation to make effective use of technology, collaboration, and social awareness.

Through the book Gold Generation 2045: What Makes Us Different?, IIEF presents various cross-generational strategies and ideas to prepare Indonesian human resources to face global challenges. This book emphasizes the importance of experience-based education, character development, leadership development, and multi-sector collaboration.

This book is compiled by more than 25 contributors from various disciplines which include education, business, spatial planning, public policy, psychology to technology. Each section presents a holistic view of what Indonesia needs to jump far forward, namely transformation of real experience-based education, early character development, improving leadership quality, multi-sector collaboration, as well as creating an adaptive and competitive talent ecosystem.

In the midst of accelerating digitalization, adaptability and social lenging skills are the main capital that technology cannot replace, so that Indonesia has the opportunity to take advantage of demographic bonuses into productivity bonuses.

This book is also a call for all stakeholders, the government, academics, the industrial sector, and the community to work together to build a strong, adaptive, and character young generation.

"We hope that the various thoughts outlined can be a reference for the government, educational institutions, the industrial sector, and the community in formulating adaptive and sustainable human development strategies. Cross-sectoral synergy and generation become a crucial foundation for the realization of an inclusive and competitive Indonesia. ," said Diana.

With the foundation of strong values, character, and competence, optimism for Indonesia Gold 2045 is not just a dream, but a real target, as long as the younger generation is given the right space, resources, and support.
