Ammar Zoni Session Enters New Round, Public Prosecutors Ready To Present Witnesses

JAKARTA - The new chapter in the trial of a drug case involving Ammar Zoni will begin soon. After the Panel of Judges rejected the exception of the defendants, the focus of the trial has now fully shifted to the evidentiary stage.

In a trial held at the Central Jakarta District Court, Chief Judge Dwi Elyarahma Sulistiyowati ordered the case to continue.

"So we will go to the evidence next," he said at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday, November 27.

The first opportunity will be given to the Public Prosecutor to prove his indictment. They are scheduled to present witnesses to provide information before the panel of judges.

"The proof is that we are giving the Public Prosecutor the opportunity to present the witnesses first," explained the presiding judge regarding the next trial flow.

Previously, the Panel of Judges at the Central Jakarta District Court had decided to reject the objection or exception note filed by the Ammar Zoni legal team and five other defendants. This decision ensures that the judicial process on the alleged drug abuse case will continue.

In the interim decision read by the Chief Judge, Dwi Elyarahma Sulistiyowati, it was stated that the exceptions of the defendants could not be accepted.

"Declaring the objection from the Defendant's Legal Advisor... Muhammad Amar Akbar was not accepted," said the presiding judge at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday, November 27.

As a consequence, the panel of judges ordered the Public Prosecutor to continue examining the case. The trial will now enter a new round that is more crucial, namely the stage of proof.
