JAKARTA – The mediation process between Nikita Mirzani and Dr. Reza Gladys in a case of alleged unlawful acts has ended in a stalemate.
Reza Gladys's team rejected Nikita's camp's IDR 200 billion settlement proposal and even filed a counterclaim demanding IDR 504 billion in damages.
Nikita's attorney, Marulitua Sianturi, confirmed that his client's offer was rejected without compromise.
"We have completed the mediation process with the defendants' response. The first point is that they rejected the plaintiffs' IDR 200 billion proposal," Marulitua stated at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday, November 18.
On the other side, Reza Gladys's legal team, led by Surya Batubara and Robert Paruhum, not only rejected the proposal but also proposed a much higher amount for damages.
"The plaintiffs proposed IDR 200 billion last week. We are seeking IDR 504 billion this week. The difference is IDR 304 billion. We are willing to agree to a settlement if we are given this difference," Surya asserted.
Nikita's side believes the demands are irrelevant in the context of mediation, considering that the focus of that stage should be on finding an agreement, not debating the extent of the damages.
"If it was previously alleged that there were losses of IDR 4 billion and IDR 500 billion, "I think that's irrational. If you want to file a countersuit through reconvention, go ahead. But first, complete this mediation process," said Marulitua.
With both parties insisting on their respective positions, the mediation process is on the verge of failure and could potentially escalate to the main issue.
Reza Gladys's IDR 504 billion settlement demand has drawn public attention. This figure consists of IDR 4 billion in material losses and IDR 500 billion in immaterial losses.
Reza's attorney, Robert Paruhum, explained that this figure represents the accumulated losses his client suffered following the extortion case involving Nikita Mirzani.
"After this extortion case, Dr. Reza's concentration was disrupted. He focused very little on his business. He focused on this case," said Robert.
He added that the biggest impact was the decline in his client's credibility due to negative framing and massive bullying on social media.
"His credibility has plummeted because he's been bullied to the bone. And it's not just Reza who's being bullied; the prosecutors are being bullied too," he said.
Another member of Reza's legal team, M. Rafi, also emphasized that to date, there is no evidence to suggest that Reza Gladys' products are problematic.
"Even in yesterday's trial, there was no evidence that there was anything wrong with Reza Gladys' products," he said.
Meanwhile, Nikita Mirzani's team still considers the IDR 504 billion demand unreasonable.
