Green Lifestyle Becomes A Simple Way To Keep Earth Lestari

JAKARTA - Recently, environmentally friendly lifestyles have become a concern for many people. From simple daily habits to big decisions in energy use, ecological awareness is the key to keeping the earth sustainable.

One of the concepts that have been widely discussed is Green Democracy, a movement that combines ecological awareness with everyday life and green political education for the younger generation.

Being one of the Key Speakers (Keynote Speaker) at the plenary Investment Forum at the 30th Conference of Parties (COP) event in Brazil's Belem on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Chairman of the DPD RI Sultan Baktiar Najamudin appeared as an Indonesian Delegation introducing the idea of "Green Democracy and The Climate Change Bill: Indonesia's Path to Sustainable Transformation".

"Indonesia's commitment to achieving the opportunity has been proven by various green policy packages (Green Policy) both through the Law and Presidential Regulation (Perpres) number 110 of 2025 concerning the Economic Value of Carbon," said Sultan Baktiar Najamudin from his official statement.

A green lifestyle is not only a matter of planting trees or reducing plastic waste. It also includes how we use energy, choosing environmentally friendly products, to understanding the importance of maintaining forest and mangrove ecosystems that play a major role in natural balance.

"Various policies have been signed by President Prabowo Subianto, such as the allocation of conservation funds and the Draft Law related to climate and indigenous peoples. This is clear evidence of Indonesia's commitment to the international world in accelerating the decarbonization target with a green policy approach," he said.

One of the important steps in a green lifestyle is to optimize natural resources in a sustainable manner. Indonesia as the owner of the third largest tropical rainforest in the world and home to millions of hectares of mangrove ecosystems, has great potential to be a global example in the use of renewable energy.

"Indonesia is the third-largest country to own tropical rainforests in the world and is home to millions of hectares for the world's largest mangrove ecosystem. Likewise, the potential for new and renewable energy sources has unlimited economic value," said Sultan.

In addition, climate change is an important reminder for people to adopt a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. From reducing fossil energy consumption to supporting carbon-absorbing technology, every action has a real impact on the earth.

"UNDP Global Climate Report 2024 objectively revealed 70% of climate policies failed. Not because we lack funds or technology, but because of weak coherence and political integration," said Sultan.

Green Democracy encourages people to be more aware of the ecosystem, from local policies to everyday choices, so as to create harmony between humans and nature.

"The Green Democracy paradigm seeks to expand the transformation of democracy in Indonesia and globally that connects regional needs, political interests and ecological justice towards an order of life for the nation and the country which has an impact on the welfare of the people," he stressed.

Through the application of this concept in everyday life, such as reducing waste, saving energy, and planting trees, everyone can contribute to nature's sustainability. Environmental awareness is no longer just a political issue, but is a lifestyle that brings benefits to yourself, society, and the planet.

"However, from Brazil's Belem, we want to emphasize that from now on climate action will also be the priority agenda of the Indonesian Senate. The DPD RI will initiate a meeting of parliamentary institutions that own tropical rainforests ahead." he concluded.

The green lifestyle is not only a matter of trend, but a need to preserve the earth for future generations. With high ecological awareness, people can keep nature beautiful and sustainable.
