Elected To Play Dono In Warkop DKI Film, Desta: Dreams Come True

JAKARTA Presenter and comedian Desta Mahendra shared the personal and emotional stories behind his appointment as the new actor of the legendary character Dono in the latest film Warkop DKI.

Through an upload on his personal Instagram account, Desta revealed that this role is a dream come true of a destiny that he never even imagined before.

Desta started his story by uploading an old photo of himself with his older brother as a child, posing happily with their idol, Trio Warkop DKI. He recalls that moment as a dream come true in his childhood.

"It happened during the late Papah office event with the main guest star Warkop DKI. We both really want to take pictures with him. Papah granted it because he did have access to the backstage," wrote Desta, quoted by VOI from the Instagram account @desta80s, Wednesday, November 13.

Desta also remembers his family as a big fan of Warkop DKI. His father was even willing to queue long at the cinema counter to get a ticket on the first day of the screening of the film Warkop. Puluhan last year, fate brought him to an extraordinary event.

"And now... I never imagined this dream, and this suddenly happened. I was asked to be one of the roles of Trio Warkop for the latest film," he said full of emotion.

What makes this role even more meaningful, Desta revealed that he was directly chosen by the family of the late Dono to play the character.

"I was chosen to be the actor of the late Pakde Dono, and this was directly chosen by the family. Touched," he wrote.

For Desta, this is not just a role, but a great honor to be able to play a figure he idolized since childhood. He also feels happy because he can stay in touch with the children of the late Dono, Indro Warkop, and the late Kasino.

With full humility, Desta asked for prayers and blessings so that he could carry out this mandate as best he could.

"All permission, Mas. Hopefully I won't disappoint," he wrote.

The upload is not only an announcement of a new role, but also an inspiring story about the journey of a small fan who is now trusted to continue his idol's legacy.
