JAKARTA To meet the legal requirements in the divorce process, Andre Taulany presented two witnesses in the trial.
The witnesses were Andre's younger brother and an employee who was deemed to have knowledge of the couple's household conditions, including the fact that Andre had been separated from his wife for the past year.
"Today we brought in two witnesses. One of them is the family of the applicant, Andre," said Fahmi Bachmid, Andre's attorney, at the South Jakarta Religious Court, Wednesday, November 5.
"Adik from Andre. And he also explained things related to household problems," he continued.
The second witness is an employee named Reza who knows both Andre and his wife, Rien Wartia Trigina alias Erin.
Earlier the man was on behalf of Reza. He is an employee of the applicant and also knows the respondent," added Galih Rakasiwi, another member of Andre's legal team.
Their testimony is considered important to strengthen evidence of disputes and separation from residences that are the basis for divorce.
"There is one more witness, someone who knows because it's been almost a year since Andre has been separated from his residence," said Fahmi.
Unlike Andre's side, Erin chose not to present witnesses in the trial. This decision was taken because both of them agreed to divorce peacefully, so there was nothing to debate in the courtroom.
Erin's attorney, Wahyu Purnomo, explained that the peace agreement made the presence of witnesses from his side no longer needed.
"Because the divorce itself has been agreed peacefully, so it is not absolutely necessary for us to present witnesses," he said.
According to Wahyu, the statements from the two witnesses presented by Andre were sufficient to provide a complete picture to the panel of judges regarding the condition of their household, without bringing down one party.

"Earlier, we also saw that the witnesses presented were sufficient to provide an overview of the condition of their household, without discrediting other parties," he concluded.
